Who is eligible to play and how are teams comprised?

  • Lowell Girls Lacrosse welcomes girls in grades K - 8 from Lowell and surrounding towns. Girls are assigned to teams based on their grade level:
    • ​U8: grades K - 2
    • U10: grades 3 & 4
    • U12: grades 5 & 6
    • U14: grades 7 & 8

When does the '22 season start and what are the player's committment?

  • We ask players do their best to attend all practices and games throughout the season. Fielding teams for games is 100% dependent on players showing up. If Sunday games conflict with other teams/activities your player is involved in, we respectfully request you consider saving the limited team spot for another player. We understand conflicts occur every now and again but appreciate everyone doing their best to consider conflicts before signing up. '22 season game dates are listed below.
  • U8 & U10 teams typically practice 1x/week; U12 & U14 practice 2xs/week.
  • Indoor Practices begin in February 7 2022 and move outdoors in April. Practices are currently scheduled as follows (outdoor practice days/times subject to change slightly):
    • U8: Thursdays, 6:00-7:00 pm 
    • U10: Tuesdays, 6:00-7:30 pm  (Thurs practice may be added; stay tuned!)
    • U12: Mondays & Wednesdays, 6:00-7:30 pm
    • U14: Mondays & Wednesdays, 7:30-9:00 pm 
  • ​Outdoor Practices begin April 4 2022:
    • Mondays: U12 and U14  (6:00-7:30pm)
    • Tuesdays: U10  (6:00-7:30pm)
    • Wednesdays: U12  (6:00-7:30pm)
    • Thursdays: U8 (6:00-7:15pm) & U14 (6:00-7:30pm)

​Practices on Mon & Tues are held at Pyne Arts School; Wed & Thur practices at Wang Middle School. Outdoor practices are held at Cawley Stadium girls lacrosse field.

When are games held?

  • Games for all teams are Sundays April 3, 10, 24, May 1, 8, 15, June 5, 12
  • ​League-wide Jamboree: Sunday, May 22, 2022, Devens, MA

​Is there a tryout?

There is no tryout. The girls are placed on teams based on their age; all girls play and all are welcome! 

What equipment do players need?

  • All girls are required to have stick, eye goggles, and a mouth guard (the mouth guard can't be clear).
  • Each NEW player receives a FREE stick and eye goggles when they signup.
  • NEW players also receive a FREE uniform.

How much does it cost?

  • ​There are two fees to play girls lacrosse:
    • $165 for LGL  
    • $35 for a Founders Girls Lacrosse League fee that is required

** We offer a family discount for families who register 2 or more children in the LGL recreation program**

What does the cost cover?

  • New player equipment and uniforms - uniform fittings & equipment pick up takes place in January
  • Equipment (balls, nets) needed to support the program
  • Referee costs
  • All fees for field/gym/ use from January through June
  • Education and training programs for coaches
  • Team Registrations and Jamborees

What if a returning player has part of the uniform that no longer fits?

  • Rertuning players can  purchase uniform pieces a la carte from our uniform vendor HERE. All orders must be placed by Wed., 2/9/22.

What are the current COVID-19 protocols

  • LGL will continue follow Massachusetts' protocols regarding mask policies, etc. At this time, masks will be required during indoor practices; optional outdoors. We will continue to update our policies, as needed.
  • In the event of a cancelled season due to COVID-19 or other such disaster, families will be refunded expenses not incurred by our league. Examples of expenses that cannot be refunded may include, but are not limited to, administration, partial coaching fees, uniforms, field rental fees and league team fees.
